Listen up, I don't do a lot of shopping. My only pair of opaque tights are wearing thin in all the wrong places. My last surviving pair of sandals revealed their true colors once all the silver rubbed off the soles, and my once-perfect white tee is a lovely shade of laundry water.
Shopping is one of those things that Matty and I have moved down the totem pole of our budget to make room for new apartment necessities, a little bit of entertainment, and a lot of food. Which all sit below paying off student loans, by the way, but that's decidedly un-fun.
The benefit of not shopping (not an oxymoron, really!) is you set your focus on the perfect intersection of want and need. I've tried on a few things just because it would feel good to have something new and fresh in my closet, but most of the time the quality and necessity of the product no longer lived up to my standards. New is not better than good.
And so, I have in my back pocket an arsenal of items that, when the time comes, I'll be prepared to snatch up. This particular round-up is mostly brand-focused. They all, for one reason or another, represent a healthy dose of fun. Having fun and being happy are two surprising qualifiers I've prioritized for recent and upcoming purchases, in addition to quality and care for the makers of the product.
If you're looking for a bit of fun (or maybe some Christmas ideas for you early planners), look no further, my friends.
I found CLAD&CLOTH on Instagram and wondered how someone had climbed into my brain and curated my dream closet. I was shocked to find that I would happily wear 95% of the items currently in stock. They carry a signature line of dresses that sell out (but re-stock!) often. I love that they stock fewer pieces so I'm not overwhelmed with options. Plus, this:
CLAD&CLOTH is meant to inspire women to be clothed in confidence and independence.
A “clad & cloth” girl is tastefully dressed, modest, bold, and unique. A “clad & cloth” girl is more than her clothes and never hides behind scantily bits of fabric. She is smart and kind. She is daring and respectful. She is courageous and gentle. She is calm, cool and collected. She is your best self.
There isn't much to say about Glossier that hasn't already been said, so I'll just go ahead and make this known: I'm not sure I can live another day with this perfect Generation G Matte Lipstick in my purse.
One day I was Insta-stalking someone who must have been an ambassador for this brand so I guess social media works, guys. They have CUTE BRAS that are WELL MADE with NO UNDERWIRE and they are AFFORDABLE. I think I'd classify that as the happiest purchase of all time. (Admittedly, a bit of hyperbole. International plane tickets and Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows at midnight of release should also be mentioned here.)
Got some more fun brands to share?? Do tell.
